OMEGAVORTEX Diabolic Messiah of the New World Order CD

Omegavortex is one of the supreme death metal bands in the current underground. Their second full length album is out via Third Eye Temple on December 5th. Having heard six of the songs in a rougher form on the “Paranormal Violence” promotional tape, I knew this would be an annihilating experience.

A frantic swarm of evil abominations convulse forth from the spasming guitars and blasting drums with malicious vocals venomously spat through the instrumental savagery. The first few seconds make a frank statement: “this is real death metal, either it’s meant for you or fukk off”. Omegavortex does not bend the knee to trend nor whim, seeking only the most extreme and barbaric version of their own hellish sound that they can achieve. As we heard on their debut, their atmosphere is a hostile one that is simply not for the lighthearted nor meek. Grooves stomp like a boot on the neck of a weakling and punctuating these crushing riffs are the most untamed of drums. Bursting forth, another eruption of volcanic nuclear alchemy scolds the flesh with tempered molten darkness. From the caustic guitars rusted breaths of decay to the massive walls of percussion, everything feels of an incredible magnitude and monolithic stature. Every element from the noisy musical sadism to the production and art is an exclamation of total death and chaos with no room for compromise.

Frenzied malignant songs barrel into each other to give an anxiety-inducing onslaught of nightmarish paranormal violence. The more groovy moments are certainly reminiscent of Morbid Angel’s primeval works while the Necrovore insanity cannot be ignore. These comparisons are not too strong though, Omegavortex has their own sound which may draw influence from the ancient gods of death, but has evolved into its own abhorrent entity. Moments of hallucinatory unpleasantness take you on a bad trip of profane psychedelia before the very earthly, charnel and spiritual devastation kick back into the mayhem at hand. The stench of the blood-soaked earth accompanies each of these ferocious pieces, a smell that weirdly stays after the song finishes. That said, listening to an individual song seems a pointless endeavour; this is a record obviously meant to be experiences as a whole or not at all. Expect no mercy, no quarter and no rest; this is a full-on assault of the senses that will violate you with aural hellfire and not allow you to escape until you have been obliterated by total death metal force.

The pacing of this album is uninterrupted chaos, usually in shorter bursts with songs usually under 3 minutes in length. The first nine songs all exclaim radioactive unholiness and blasphemy in a primitive and lacerating manner. Interestingly though, the band closes this album with a longer piece sat at just over 8 minutes, could this be an epic finale or just a particularly torturous and painful experience to finish off the listener? By this point, your heart rate will be around 666bpm and if you’ve not died, you have proven your worthiness to experience this album until its climactic end. The more cinematic pace of “World Extermination Agenda” opens with gloomy and epic passages, a huge change in mood and yet just as horrifying as all that preceded it. Naturally the maelstroms of corporeal punishment are never far away but the more crawling pace of this combined with the bursts of restless nauseating panic make for one grand finale of magnificent vitriolic perversions.

Psychopathic majesty and whirlwinds of directed sadism are unleashed on this opus of destruction, malevolence and wickedness. This record is an unambiguous and immersive experience of unfettered hatred, hostility and darkness. Invoking a cosmos of evil and celestial poison, proceed with much caution. Every second is a danger to your spiritual, psychic and physical wellbeing. Blasting shrapnel into abyssal wounds with sonically supercharged sadism; none shall be spared by this monumental effort of true death metal. Omegavortex reigns hellfire and you will either dance ecstatically in the flames of destruction or be decimated as a posturing coward. Worship limitless violence!
