MALIGNANT ALTAR Retribution of Jealous Gods CD

Malignant Altar is a very new death metal outfit that formed in 2018. Though they're a newer band, the members aren't new to writing quality extreme metal. One of their guitarists, Beau Beasley, and their drummer, Dobber Beverly, are both ex-Insect Warfare members, the former is also an ex-Hatred Surge member. Beverly and Malignant Altar's bassist, Mat Aleman, are also both current members of War Master, a death metal outfit that's heavily influenced by Bolt Thrower and other simplistic, primarily mid-tempo death metal. Simplism and mid-tempo riffs carry over from War Master to Malignant Altar, but with much more death/doom influence. Switching to this style has clearly worked well for Malignant Altar, as both demos they've released this year are exceptional and have made me eager to hear more. The more impressive of the two is Retribution of Jealous Gods, a wonderfully slimy, murky, caveman death/doom demo.
